The 462 is quick to lodge but easy to get wrong. Most problems come from country-specific rules: the wrong education level, an expired English test, a missed ballot window or an unclear funds trail.

Yes. You can work full time, part time or casually in any occupation or industry. Visa condition 8547 limits you to six months with any one employer unless an exemption applies or you obtain written permission. You can also study for up to four months.
Possibly. A second 462 visa generally requires three months (88 days) of specified work in an eligible regional area during your first visa. A third generally requires six months of specified work during your second visa.
It depends on your passport. China, India and Vietnam use a ballot before you can lodge a first application, and Indonesia's ballot is expected to open later in 2026. Some countries also require a government letter of support. We check your country's current rules first.
First-time applicants generally apply from outside Australia and must be outside Australia when the visa is granted. Rules for second and third visas differ. Do not book flights until the visa is granted in writing.
